Cake

Nisamina (my thoughts, that is) have been about cake lately. I go to bed thinking about cake, I think about it a lot during the day, even bake a few here and there, so naturally, I should be blogging about cake. This blog is about my thoughts right?

So here we go. I love to bake, and I've always wanted to learn how to better decorate my creations, but yet I have little natural artistic talent. I cannot draw, paint, etc. But I'm good with following directions and school. I've been wanting to take a cake decorating class ever since I can remember. My mom even bought me a decorating set ages go, which I only recently started to use. But as Emeline's first birthday approached, I really wanted to be able to make a cake for her that was more than my usual decor choice of swirly frosting. So I signed up for a decorating basics class at Michael's. I learned a lot of good stuff, and then was inspired by some of the flowers our teacher showed us to take the fondant and gum paste class, and now I'm finishing up the final class about more flowers and cake design. I still don't have the natural artistic talent, but I'm having fun, learning a lot, and eating a lot of cake! And unlike other hobbies I try to get into, I'm actually getting in to this one. Normally, if I'm not good at something quickly, I give it up, but I've tried to press in to this and learn from my mistakes, in order to create something better.

So my next few posts will be about cake and my journey. I've taken pictures of my work, but it's not that great so I didn't want to post it. But it's also fun to show some of it, and what I'm learning. So now, I'm going to go back to some of my original stuff and show my loyal readers (yes I know it might not be anyone out there in bloggerland), what my thoughts have been about lately. I hope you enjoy the ride!
