It's been a busy couple months for me. The company I work at has been running out of funding, and we've all been working hard to finish up projects to present to potential investors. But unfortunately time, or should I say money, ran out. We were all laid off on Friday. I've never been laid off before, so it's been an interesting experience saying goodbye to the place and people I've worked with for 6 years. It's also interesting to be finally join the throngs of people looking for work, who have also been so directly effected by the "economic crisis".
Fortunately, I have another job lined, up...but that is a story for another time. It's still been a hectic and unpredictable time. When I found out that I was going to be laid off, a friend of mine almost insisted that I get away for a while. She told me that when her brother-in-law was laid off for the first time, he came home from work (it was a Friday), and told his wife to pack for the weekend...they were going to Tahoe. It didn't make sense financially to just up and take a vacation, but he needed some time away. So they took it. She encouraged me to do the same.
My dear friends R&R in Virginia are expecting a baby, and since I don't often have the chance to get out there, my heart tugged at me to take this unpredictable time off between jobs to go see them...and maybe even meet their little one. So I did! I packed my office on Friday, got home, packed up my bags, and flew away on red-eye out that night to Virginia. I arrived Saturday morning, somewhat groggy, but glad to be away from my world, and with freedom to spend time with friends.
I didn't do much. Didn't see the sites of Virginia, didn't zip around from activity to activity. I cooked for them and cleaned, slept, relaxed, and waited for the baby to come. I waited with them for the new life they are about to experience. Unfortunately for me, baby has decided to take his sweet time, so I had to fly back home without meeting him face to face. But that is just fine. God gave me the chance to fly away and experience something new before returning home to my next adventure.

Valentines Day
Wes and I don't usually do much for Valentines Day. We've tried to go out for dinner a couple times since being in the bay area, but it's honestly just too hectic.
For my birthday this year, Wes arranged reservations for brunch at Left Bank on Santana Row followed by a massage, but unfortunately I was vomiting all day, so we never made it. Every Saturday we think to ourselves, "let's go have brunch at Left Bank", but usually I'm too hungry to wait. So Valentines Day arrived Saturday morning, Wes called, and they actually had tables available. So we got all dressed up on a Saturday morning, and went to the Left Bank for brunch. Mmmmm fancy french food!
