It's official

Well today's the day. I went down to the Social Security office and changed my name. I tried to go a couple weeks ago, but the line was crazy long! So first thing this morning I got there to get a number and get it done. I changed my email a while back, but this is more official somehow. I had to sign my new name for the first time.

I'm not one for putting my last name up on the internet, so initials will have to do. EHD ( or ED, or EHGD, or however you knew me) is now EDZ (or EZ for short...yes I know I know....I'm in for lots of "E-Z" jokes.

Anyway, it's official. I think I'm excited to have a new name to show my identity as part of a family, but it is hard to adjust to. I'm an independent woman, and I just have to remember I still am, even though I am united with my wonderful partner. :)

  2. It is weird, isn't it? When I got my SS card, I practiced my new signature a few times, but I still messed it up on the card. I guess I'll get another chance on the passport, when I get around to changing that. I am glad that Richard also changed his name, (in spite of the opposition) so it's a shared experience for us. We both have new identities together...
