A night out

I have been so busy lately, a night out was exactly what I needed. I had to work on Saturday (and again today...boo) because we have an evaluation of our software happening tomorrow. Lots to prepare for!

Anyway...Wes was a real sweetheart this weekend. He asked me on a date on Thursday, but wouldn't say where. After work, I got ready, picked him up (because it was raining), and off we went...the location still a surprise. We had a lovely, but relatively slow, drive in the pouring rain down hwy 17, then to hwy 1, when we exited in Capitola. I was kept trying to guess the restaurant, but then we started driving through a more suburban area, and I was thoroughly confused. All of a sudden we happened upon the Shadowbrook Restaurant. It is an old restored cabin (more like mansion cabin) that is has a restaurant and gardens.

We had an amazing dinner! The food was absolutley delicious, and the atmosphere was cozy. It turns out Wes found out about this place from a website his friend made called Cooking For Engineers. The also have a section about dining out, where you can see some of his reviews.
There are even yummy pictures of the food. I had fresh Atlantic salmon with baby arugula (yum!) and Wes had braised Pekin duck with some kind of greens that had pomegranate seeds. Very pretty. We shared a delicious creme brule to end the evening. Here we are just before we drove back.It was a wonderful night out!
