(Remember those fortunately, unfortunately stories you had to write in Elementary school? This is JUST like one of those!)
Wes' Fortunately, Unfortunately Motorcycle Diaries
- Unfortunately, Wes has always had bad luck with cars. It's hard to find a good car for cheap when you are a student, so you usually go from crappy car, to crappy car.
- Fortunately, Wes decided that he could buy a nicer motorcycle than car for his money. So in 2002ish he bought his first motorcycle.
- Unfortunately, the guy who sold it to Wes was a spaz and ran the bike to the ground, so he had to sell it.
- Fortunately, Wes was able to get a better bike.
- Unfortunately, bike #2 wasn't so hot either.
- Fortunately, bike #3 was not far behind.
- Unfortunately, bike #3 had some problems.
- Fortunately, bike #3 got fixed.
- Unfortunately, the shop did a shoddy job and the bike practically exploded on the freeway.
- Fortunately, Wes had the finances to purchase a BRAND new motorcycle! No problems at all! Bike #4 is here to stay!
- Unfortunately, Wes got in a motorcycle accident.
- Fortunately, Wes was just fine. Hardly a scratch on him.
- Unfortunately, the bike is not as good. Forks are bent, needs new parts.
- Fortunately, Wes gets a bonus at work and can afford to fix the bike.
- Unfortunately, all the parts are on back order from Japan until who knows when.
- Fortunately, if he buys the WHOLE forks instead of just the parts, they will be there by the time school starts so he can commute to Santa Cruz.
- Unfortunately, buying the whole parts cost a lot more.
- See #10 above.
- Unfortunately, Wes has to ride the bus to Santa Cruz and all over until the parts come.
- Fortunately, he has a friend at Santa Cruz who can give him a ride.
- Fortunately (yay 2 Fortunatelys in a row! ) He decided to buy a bicycle to make commuting on the bus easier...And gas prices are crazy so he is doing his part to save the environment ;). And he likes to ride the bike...So this is a good fortunately.
- Unfortunately, Wes is riding his bike to work and rides through thorns. Both tires go flat, he has to walk most of the way to work.
- Fortunately, he has the most awesome girlfriend in the world, so I picked up new tubes and brought them to his work.
- Unfortunately, next time he goes to Santa Cruz, he misses the last bus home and gets stuck...
- Unfortunately (yes another) Wes has no cell phone and can't call to cancel his apts for the evening.
- Fortunately, he found a friend in SC who would let him stay the night.
- Fortunately, the day has come when all the motorcycle parts are back.
- Unfortunately, he is stuck in SC and can't get home to fix the bike.
- Fortunately, he gets out of school early and can go home to fix the bike.
- Unfortunately, all the bus drivers in Santa Cruz go on STRIKE!!! So he can't get home.
- Fortunately, there might be a chance he can go back to campus and see if his friend is there to give him a ride.
- Unfortunately, going to campus entails riding up a GIANT mountain to get there...And it is a possibility his friend won't even be there.
- Fortunately, God is good, and he makes it up the hill, finds his friend, and arranges a ride home.
- Fortunately (yay 2 Fortunatelys in a row! ), he makes it home, and fixes his motorcycle so he can ride to campus avoiding the striking bus drivers.
- Fortunately (yay 3 Fortunatelys in a row! ), Wes has decided to by a cell phone, and he will have communication with the outside world and transportation!!
Have you considered buying a pair of roller skates? Thorns are evil. I feel your pain! :)
ReplyDeleteHi Elaine! The fault for not getting together is all mine, I've been living in my grad school bubble. (Which as far as bubbles go, isn't too bad.) But yes, I am still determined to get together with you. What shall we do?
ReplyDeleteBTW, Matthew and I are glad to see Wes is still riding a motorcycle. Hope his luck improves with it!
that is really funny, yet sad in a pathetic sort of way. What would Wes do without you? and God. and friends.
ReplyDeleteI had a dream about you last night! You were trying to take a shower (fully clothed) but couldn't get the water to the right temp b/c you had to hold the soap (?) so you were asking me to adjust the temp for you. You kept asking for me to make it hotter, but I was afraid of burning you so I would only turn it up a tiny bit at a time. No idea where than came from. Hope all is well with you and Wes!
