Getting back in touch: A recap

Hi all,

Well I've joined the 21st century with a blog of my own. Thanks to Bridget really. I love reading her blog and finding out what she is up to, so I thought it was only fair to give her something to read as well. Anyway, many of you and I talk to regularly, so you know what's up in Elaine-world, but many of you have missed some of the details. So here is a much abbreviated recap of the last couple years.

June 2002 - Graduated from UO Yay!

August 2002 - Moved to San Jose and started MA Linguistics program at SJSU.

January 2003 - Started going to a vineyard church in Palo Alto, met many wonderful friends!
April 2003 - Started a part time job at working on a Spanish machine translation project.

August 2003 - Back to school, started going full steam ahead on my MA thesis on prepositions in Garifuna (language spoken in Belize).

May 2004 - Graduated SJSU with MA Linguistics, finished thesis...whew...that was a rough year.June 2004 - Started working full-time at the same speech technology company on various machine translation projects.

November 2004 - Went to Belize with a wonderful woman who I worked on my thesis with to visit the place I studied so much about. It really deserves way more than one post, but like I said, this is a recap.
February 2005 - Moved to an apt closer to work.

May 2005 - My crazy friend Rebecca got me hooked into training for a triathlon.

June 12, 2005 - First sprint distance triathlon! Woo hoo! I did it!
June 15-July 1 2005 - Went to France for my friend Karen's wedding...boy do the French know how to do weddings...then took Wes romping around my old stomping grounds in Barcelona.August 20, 2005 - Went to my grandparents 50th wedding anniversary in LA.
August 21, 2005 - Quarter century birthday, very anti-climactic really.

And that just about brings us to today...September 7, 2005. Home sick from work, just a cold, but a nasty one, writing a blog to catch up with my friends and family. I'm working, I'm training for my next tri on Sept 18th, and waiting to see what God does next. I hope you enjoy my updates. Love you all,

Elaine
