Fall Flowers

Well...I have to say the trees have proven me wrong about California falls. But it is rather sporadic. Go down one street, it looks like summer ( lots of leafy trees) , the next like fall ( colorful leafy trees) , the next like winter ( leaves have gone ), and I've just discovered a beautiful fall/winter bloom in the courtyard to my apartment. Anyone know what these things are? When I have a house some day I would love to have them in my garden.

Ever since I moved in, I just thought this was some green shrub near where I get my mail. But lo and behold one day there were big beautiful red and yellow flowers on it. See!!!

As I leave for work in the morning, I usually feel very tired, and somewhat blah about the day ahead...or the week ahead esp on a Monday. But when I pass these flowers just before I get to my car...God gives me something to smile about in the midst of it all.

  1. those are beautiful- but i have no idea what they are!

i love fall. but i guess i'm lucky because the street i live on and my apartment complex goes crazy with fall colors...makes it a little easier to notice the season change.

  2. Those are camelias. They are gorgeous! You lucky woman. I live in Montana where at the moment it's 10 degrees and our growing season is about a nano second long. Cheers and happy fall/winter!
